Yes... as a hopeless romantic, that also includes historical romances. I have two favorite authors in this genre of romance novels... Terri Brisbin and Michelle Willingham. Having recently looked at Michelle's blog about her time spent watching the photo shoot for one of her books, I noticed this book based on the fact that it was the same cover model as was on Michelle's book. And what a hottie he is... geesh!
Anyway, as I read the book blurb, I figured out this was a follow up story to a series I had previously read by Terri Brisbin and thoroughly enjoyed. This book is about the brother of the hero from the first book in that series teaming up with Ruric's daughter. Ruric was just... sigh. Yeah. Yet again, this was one I had to finish reading in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.
Terri Brisbin has a real talent for taking actual historical information and facts and weaving it into her stories in such a way that it's quite inspiring. Her and Michelle both do a great job with that. So much so that my first manuscript/series was a historical one. I've not published that one but I may someday after being reminded of just how much I love history mixed in with a little romance!
Likes - The heroine knew the man she wanted and was willing to stick her neck out and then wait for him to realize that she was meant for him. The hero tried to resist her but she won his heart in the end! Along the way was a few misunderstandings but also some amazing healing for the hero in terms of his past. Also characters from previous books made an appearance and I love that!
Dislikes - Nothing... In fact I want to go back and re-read the whole series from the beginning now. I borrowed this one from the library but will now have to find it on Amazon to add to my library... there's my dislike.
