I picked up this book as a freebie for a quick read during the long weekend and I am so glad I did!

Moxie is a young, kindergarten teacher in search of Mr. Right.  In the meantime though, exploring the options for Mr. Right will have to do. An unfortunate event during a night out introduces her to Miles Dane, a new to town artist/graphic designer.  He also happens to be the widowed, single parent of one of her students, Dillon. The rest of the tale involves Moxie overcoming the embarrassment of her first encounter with Mr. Dane and establishing a deliciously steamy relationship with him.

Likes: This book is hilarious. I really liked the character of Moxie and relate to her sense of humor. She is a young, confident, no holds barred chick, who is determined to embrace her curves regardless of what anybody else thinks, including her irritatingly meddlesome stepmother. Definitely my kind of gal! Her circle of friends are also equally engaging and Miles has made a nice addition to my list of book boyfriends.

Dislikes: None. I had never heard of Z.B. Heller before I read this book. I am happy to have stumbled across her and look forward to reading more from her, including the follow up to this novel, First Comes Love, which will be released soon.

I know it's been a while since I posted a new way to annoy your teenager so I thought I'd toss this out there.  Now this can be done with other things too... like raking leaves etc... however, snow is always best.

Do whatever it takes to convince your teenager to shovel the driveway clean of snow.  As soon as he/she is almost done with the task... go outside and clean off the cars and then ask "Are you going to shovel that too?  The deal was to shovel all the snow and that... that right there... that's snow!  Get to it!"

For the leaves this works best if you have a yard and a deck.  Allow him/her to rake the yard and just before they are done, clean the leaves off the deck (into the freshly raked yard).  Same result, different season. 

I’ll admit I’m a checkout line tabloid creeper. I see all these stories about how the other half lives and the supposed crazy things they are up to now… and I’m suckered in. So why should a book be any different? Especially when the two main characters have a history as just friends with a secret desire for something more. I loved that the author didn’t get so bogged down in details regarding the glitz and glitter of stardom that she lost the characters along the way. I was rooting for Nate and Lily even AFTER they hooked up. Great read and great writing!

To say I am a sucker for a blue collar man, is putting it mildly. However, I’d never thought about that in terms of a farmer. However, I may start slowing down when I pass tractors from now on and stopping at EVERY farmer’s market I pass… That Dell… whew! In Mia I may have found a kindred spirit as I too often blurt out things I’d really rather I hadn’t divulged.

Likes – I liked that the competition between them was more out of necessity than just because… it added depth to both characters and made the plot line very believable. Love or Money? The age old dilemma was out in full force in this book.

Dislikes – Aside from more steamy love scenes… I couldn’t ask for more. This book had it all! Hence the 5 star review! This will be a re-read for me and one I can easily pass on to friends, relatives and anyone else who wants a good contemporary romance.

This is an extremely well written erotic novella. I’ll say it again… This is an extremely well written erotic novella. I like a little ‘spice’ in a romance story but not if I can’t connect to the characters. I’ll pass on reading a book with zero character development but lots of sex. It’s not exactly ‘steamy’ if you don’t care about the characters as individuals. Unfortunately I see this more often than I care to admit in some erotic novels. That was NOT the case with Lang and Jessica. Two great characters I could completely relate to which made the ‘steamy’ absolutely SCORCHING HOT! LOVED IT. A re-read for me… may even share it with the hubby

This was a well written story. I enjoyed the characters and I love that the author touched on a subject that is unfortunately still considered taboo. Greg figuring out that he's in love with Jordan even though the very idea is repulsive to him, only to discover that a heart wants what it wants, was beautifully done in this short story. Looking for more from this author!

So the boy is in the kitchen fixing himself second supper consisting of a box of macaroni and cheese (the family size) because at 16 years old, 5 million calories a day is apparently STILL not enough.

After cooking the noodles he proceeds to try and open the fake cheese packet which essentially explodes, dusting the kitchen counter, the floor and his arms in orange powder.

Not one to be discouraged he sarcastically mutters "genius packaging there numb nuts" and begins dusting his arms off into the macaroni noodles, scooping powder off the counter and dumping it in as well.

In my effort to help, I hand him the broom and say, "Make sure to get it out of the grout so it doesn't turn to cheese juice when we mop. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend adding that to your noodles."

That earned me 'the look' which means that yes, I successfully annoyed him today (Woot - Go me!).  Besides, being a parent is all about being helpful!

This is the second book in Lori Foster's Men who walk the Edge of Honor series.  This book revolves around Trace Rivers who works as a mercenary along with Dare McIntosh from the first book.  Trace is undercover to bust a leader in a human trafficking ring, Murray Coburn.  Trace is well trained and ready for anything... except Murray's long lost daughter, Priscilla Patterson.  Priss has a little vendetta of her own where Murray is concerned.

Likes:  I liked how Trace was willing to do whatever it took to bring down the bad guys which included several rather nasty characters while attempting to keep Priss and any other innocents out of harm's way.

Dislikes:  Priscilla's character was a little hard to believe.  I like characters who aren't always what they seem but I had a hard time connecting with Priscilla.  As a woman, I know when I'm outmanned (pun intended) and am willing to step aside if it benefits the overall cause, regardless of personal feelings.  Priss was annoyingly not willing to do this.

I love the series overall and still highly recommend it though this story wasn't my favorite.

Blood's Fury is a romantic fantasy work by C.M. Owens. The story follows a young witch, Alyssa Coldwell, in her attempt to leave magic on the back burner, and live as a normal human before she turns immortal.

Then she meets a human, Kane Ice. Knowing the trouble involved with any human/immortal relationship, she tries to fight off her growing affection for him. Alyssa's efforts to live as a normal girl is quickly obstructed by the kidnapping of her mother. The rest of the story revolves around Alyssa's search for her mother, and her growing attraction for Kane, a mortal man.

Likes: The story is good, with a good mix of sexy romance, and mysterious suspense.

Dislikes: The story ends with a cliff hanger, that has me scrambling to read the second title, Deadly Beauties: Poison's Kiss, before the release of the third book in June.

POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT

As a side note, I would have given this book 5 stars because it's really good, but she never finds her mom! The book literally ends with someone telling her they have info about her mother, but they didn't find her.  I'm guessing that is what the next book is about, but it did tick me off a little.... I really wanted them to find her mom, lol. That didn't happen so it ended up with only 4 stars.

Wake your teenager up on a Saturday morning... early.  Like maybe around 7AM or so.  Tell them that if they want to get their driving in for the day it will have to happen now or not at all.  After they get up, shower, dress and eat and finally make it to the car, wait until you're out of the drive way and headed away from your house.  Then announce, "We might as well hit up Walmart while we're out."

This is kind of a silent way of getting paid for the bad driving you must endure because now you have someone to lift the heavy items from shelves that are too high for you to reach, someone to stay with the cart while you dive down an aisle for one or two things and someone to load all the groceries in the trunk!  It's like hitting two birds with one stone!  Actually three... the driving, the errand and the annoying your teenager.

Result = "Seriously?  Gawd Mom!  Why didn't you tell me that when you woke me up?  I would have opted out of driving today!"
